Referee Commission

The WGKF Referee Commission supports the standards, education and development of referees and officials within the World General Karate Federation. Referees play a vital role in karate competition, helping to create fair, safe and consistent events for athletes, coaches and spectators.


The commission works to support clear officiating expectations, rule understanding, communication and ongoing referee development. This includes helping karate officials stay informed about competition standards, event procedures, signals, conduct and the practical application of rules.


Strong refereeing is essential for credible karate events. It gives athletes confidence, supports coaches, protects fairness and helps ensure that each competition is delivered in a professional and consistent way. WGKF recognises referees as an important part of the federation structure and aims to provide clear pathways for those who want to develop their officiating role.
